From the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office:
8:45am Sunday
ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY PLEASE
After consultation with road crews, first responder agencies, and the Judge-Executive’s office, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office respectfully request the public refrain from being on the roadways unless it is for emergency or essential travel.
We have had multiple 4-wheel-drive vehicles get stuck in the last half-hour. We have many abandoned vehicles at intersections and elsewhere which are slowing the snow plowing efforts by our dedicated road crews.
We had sleet falling in the Kuttawa area around 8:15am and we have snow falling in the Eddyville area now. If you must travel, be prepared to be stranded for a long period of time if you get stuck.
It is 19 degrees in Lyon County and it feels like 2 degrees. If you are safe and warm where you are at, it may be a better choice to stay there until road conditions improve.
Thank you.
Sheriff Brent White
