
Murray, Ky.–In January 2026, the Murray Police Department began an investigation at the request of a local non-profit organization in Murray regarding an alleged theft. The non-profit organization, along with an independent third party, found financial discrepancies during a leadership transition. The non-profit organization is HOPE CALLOWAY.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that more than $50,000 had been taken from the organization. The former Executive Director, Nathaniel Carter 40 of Murray, KY, was subsequently charged with the following:
– 19 counts of theft by deception $1,000-$10,000
– Theft by unlawful taking $10,000-1,000,000
