MURRAY, Ky. — The Murray State University Fort Campbell Regional Campus has received official approval for its Emergency Medical Technician–Basic (EMT-B) program to serve as a U.S. Department of War SkillBridge pathway, expanding career training opportunities for transitioning service members.

The SkillBridge program allows eligible active-duty service members to participate in civilian job training, apprenticeships or internships during their final months of service while still receiving military pay and benefits. Approval of the EMT-B program positions Murray State’s Fort Campbell campus as a critical partner in preparing service members for meaningful, in-demand careers in emergency medical services.

“This approval represents an important step in strengthening the pathway from military service to civilian careers,” said Shannon Slate, director of Murray State University’s Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell Regional Campuses. “Emergency medical services are a natural transition for many service members, and this partnership allows them to build industry-recognized credentials while still on active duty.”

The EMT-B program provides students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on training required to respond to medical emergencies, deliver patient care, and pursue licensure in emergency medical services. Graduates are prepared to enter the workforce as EMTs or continue their education in related healthcare fields.

Through this designation, Murray State’s Fort Campbell regional campus reinforces its commitment to serving military-affiliated students and supporting workforce development in the region by aligning academic programming with employer and community needs.

Service members interested in participating in the EMT-B SkillBridge pathway are encouraged to contact Murray State’s Fort Campbell regional campus at 270-707-1549 for eligibility requirements and enrollment details.
