Five talented Union City Middle School band members and Landon McAdams of UC High School have earned All-West Honors.
Directors Joe Davis and Jason Deem confirmed the designation for UCMS students Rhealyn Laster (Red Band, flute), Chloe Baumgardner (Blue Band, French horn), Owen Shannon (Red Band, trombone), Mateo Tellez (Blue Band, trombone), and Linden Hayslett (Red Band, percussion).
McAdams (Red Band, trombone), a senior, had been selected for the honor previously before earning it again. Baumgardner also was a repeat performer.
“To make this ensemble is a great honor and a testament to their work ethic as musicians,” Deem said. “Our students performed with the best musicians in West Tennessee, and they represented Union City Schools well. We as directors were honored to have them be a part of the groups.”
The UC contingent auditioned for the group with a number of other gifted musicians from around West Tennessee.
After two days of tryouts, the honorees performed as a group at the Cannon Center in Memphis.
