MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Visual and Theatre Arts will present the classic musical “The Fantasticks” Feb. 26-28 and March 1 in the Harriet Fulton Theatre in the UTM Fine Arts Building.
Performance times are 7 p.m., Feb. 26-28, and 3 p.m., March 1. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for non-UT Martin students. UT Martin students can attend free with a valid Skyhawk card. The box office opens one hour before each performance. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Feb. 23, at tinyurl.com/ywj52bhy.
The musical will be performed by the Vanguard Theatre performance group as its spring production. The group performed “Seussical the Musical” last year.
With book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, “The Fantasticks” is a popular musical that blends romance, humor and poetic storytelling.
Set against a whimsical backdrop, the story follows two young lovers and their fathers in a tale that explores love, illusion and growing up. Featuring memorable songs (“Try to Remember”) and an intimate theatrical style, this timeless production promises an engaging evening for audiences of all ages.
