Discovery Park Welcomes Five New Board Members

UNION CITY, Tenn.  — Discovery Park of America has announced the appointment of five new members to its board of directors: Benjamin Beard, Dawn Bramblett, retired Army Lt. Col. Bernard House, Dr. Nassar Nassar and Portis Tanner.

“Our board plays a critical role in guiding the future of Discovery Park of America,” said Scott Williams, president and CEO. “These individuals bring valuable experience and a strong commitment to our mission and community.”

The new members bring experience in education, military leadership, finance, marketing and business operations. Their appointments support Discovery Park’s ongoing mission to inspire children and adults to see beyond.

Benjamin Beard is a financial advisor and certified public accountant who began his career in 2020. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, he focuses on building trust-based relationships with clients and is an active member of the local community.

Dawn Bramblett is co-founder of the Bramblett Group, a marketing, advertising and public relations firm serving mission-driven organizations. A Union City native and University of Tennessee at Martin graduate, she previously served as director of alumni relations at Freed-Hardeman University.

Bernard House, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, is a decorated Army officer and distinguished military graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. His service includes assignments in Germany, Korea, Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He currently serves as professor of military science and director of ROTC battalions at Murray State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Dr. Nassar Nassar is the founder and CEO of Savant Learning Systems. He serves as a member of the Foundation for the City of Martin Public Library, chair-elect of the Tennessee Business Roundtable and a member of the steering committee for the Center of Excellence.

Portis Tanner is chief operating officer of Westan Insurance Group and serves as vice president, Region I. A Union City native and Belmont University graduate, he is a past president of the Obion County Chamber of Commerce and an active community leader.
