Run The Rails Comes To Close After Years Of Community Impact

run-the-rails

Union City, Tenn.–After many meaningful years of bringing the community together, Run the Rails has officially come to a close.

What began as a local race grew into a signature community event with a lasting purpose supporting and enhancing Downtown Union City. Through the continued support of runners, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners, Run the Rails generated funding for several impactful projects over the years.

Proceeds from the event contributed to a roofing project at the Capitol Theatre, the Merchants Park Mural Project, self-watering planters along downtown sidewalks, decorative string lighting donated to Union City Parks and Recreation, and, most recently, the purchase of kitchen equipment for the ongoing Capitol Theatre renovations.

As organizers close this chapter, they are proud to announce that remaining funds will be distributed to several organizations that have played an important role in the success of the event. These include the Union City Police Department, Union City Fire Department, Union City Parks and Recreation, Kiwanis Club of Union City, Chimes for Charity, Hometown Walk of Hope, Obion County Prevention Coalition, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee.

The legacy of Run the Rails will continue to be visible throughout the downtown area and within the organizations it has supported. The event leaves behind not only physical improvements, but also a strengthened sense of community pride and partnership.

The Run the Rails committee extend their sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in and supported Run the Rails throughout the years.
