Longtime Paris Pediatrician, Dr. Debra Sue “Debi” Selby, age 65 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Charter Senior Living in Paris.
Dr. Debi earned her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1987. In 1992, she, husband John, and their family moved to Paris and opened Paris Pediatrics, bringing pediatric care to the Paris & Henry County community. She practiced medicine in Paris until 2019 before moving to Georgia where she continued in pediatrics until her retirement in 2022, practicing medicine for over 30 years. Dr. Debi loved her patients and touched the lives of countless children, parents, and their families with her compassionate care and unwavering dedication. She was dedicated to her calling and cherished the community in which she served.
Dr. Debi was Christian by faith, a member of GraceLife Church of Paris, and former member of First United Methodist Church. Giving much of her time to the local church, she participated in several medical mission trips, women’s groups, and faithfully served in various needed roles. She also gave back to her community by serving & volunteering with several local organizations. In her spare time, Dr. Debi enjoyed boating, golfing, and gardening.
Debi was born March 15, 1961, in Weston, WV, to the late Hale Hinzman and the late Patricia Steger Hinzman.
She was married June 23, 1984, to John Wyatt Selby, Jr., her husband of over 41 years, who survives, of Paris.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Clare Selby of Ledbetter, KY; her son, John Wyatt “Johnny” Selby, III, of Los Angeles, CA; and her sister, Lori Ann (Rodney) Stansberry of Ashland City, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Hale Hinzman.
Visitation will be Monday, April 27, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 pm. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Brian Wimberley officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Stansberry, Tommy Wimberley, Brandon Wimberley, Jamie Orr, Phillip Wells, and Terry Carter.
Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.
