Michael “Radar” Hunter

Michael Aaron “Radar” Hunter of Springville, Tennessee, passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on February 24, 1949, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late John Hoyt Hunter and the late Fronnie Autrey Morgan Hunter.

On September 26, 1973, he married the love of his life, Kathy Compton Hunter. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2017.

Michael was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran, who not only served his country with honor but also remained active in his community as the former commander of the American Legion in Springville. He was a truck driver for Sims Trucking for many years. Throughout his life, Michael was known for his love of fishing and spending time on the lake, where he found joy and solace. He also enjoyed playing cards and watching westerns. He shared a special bond with his loyal canine companion, Daisy, who brought him endless happiness.

He is survived by his brother, Herman Hunter, and Herman’s wife, Charlotte of Dyersburg, TN; and a special niece and caregiver, Staci Beecham and her family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Kinnick and Maxine Whitehead; and five brothers, Gary Hunter, Bill Hunter, Jimmy Don Hunter, Gerald Hunter and Joe Hunter. In honoring his wishes, a memorial service will be Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at the American Legion Post 89 4326 E. Antioch Rd., Springville, TN, 38256.

Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Redden, Dawson Charles, and the Members of the American Legion.

His body is to be cremated.
