Head coach Bill Kail recognized several of his squad’s individual standouts from this past season at a recent get-together of the Union City High School boys’ basketball team.
A youthful Tornado squad that had just one senior (Tayshun Gentry) on its roster still made the regional tournament. The Twisters are scheduled to return four starters and most of their bench next season.
Among those receiving individual accolades for the 2025-26 season were:
Tayshun Gentry: Ultimate Teammate Award
Brayden Marshall: Best 3-Point Field Goal Percentage
Hollister Johnson: Leading Scorer
Best Field Goal Percentage
Most Assists
Most Blocked Shots
J.B. Thompson: Most Rebounds
Most Steals
Jack Theobald: Academic Award
Marshall shot 36 percent from 3-point range, while Johnson averaged 13.5 ppg, shot 48 percent from the field, handed out 54 assists, and rejected 19 shots. Thompson snagged 175 rebounds and came up with 45 steals.
