Paris, TN – The City of Paris is proud to have participated in the 2026 Rural Innovation  Internship Program through the University of Tennessee at Martin Center for Rural  Innovation in collaboration with Municipal Technical Advisory Service.

Through this program, the City welcomed Hattie Johnson, a junior at University of  Tennessee at Martin majoring in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration.  Originally from Fayetteville, Hattie completed 120 hours of part-time work with the City  from January through April.

During her internship, Hattie assisted with municipal operations, conducted legal and  policy research, reviewed city codes, and supported administrative and communication  efforts. She gained hands-on experience in ethics, compliance, and public service while  working alongside staff across multiple departments. Hattie also worked with City Attorney  James Smith, providing valuable insight as she prepares for law school.

“Hattie has been an outstanding addition to our team,” said Community Development  Director, Jessica Crouch. “She is professional, intelligent, and brings a positive attitude to  everything she does. We are grateful for her contributions and will miss her at City Hall.”

The City of Paris is grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program and remains  committed to supporting educational opportunities that connect students to careers in  public service.
