Annual Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Yard Sale This Weekend

ap-yard-sale-2

Paris, Tenn.–It’s time once again for the annual Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Yard Sale. The event is fro 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in the historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood.

This year, there are over a dozen sale locations within a few blocks.  Maps for all the sales can be picked up at any of the sale locations or found on Facebook.  It’s encouraged to start your yard sale adventure at 501 Dunlap St (corner of Jackson St).

All proceeds from the 501 Dunlap St. sale go to support the Atkins-Porter Botanical Garden, located at 311 Jackson St in Paris. The botanical garden is a 501c3 organization, which relies completely on donations, grants, and volunteers.  There is a generous match offered for this sale, which turns every $1 into $2.  For the past 4 years, the funds raised at the 501 Dunlap St yard sale have been enough to cover the general operating expense of the garden, which can be from $3,000 to $3,500 annually.  General operating expenses include water, electricity, mulch, and insurance.

Most sales get started about 7:30 am and wrap up shortly after noon.  So, please bring your family and friends and come to the neighborhood for a fun day of treasure hunting.   And be sure to take a few minutes to stroll through the botanical garden while you’re nearby.
