Paris, TN — Following a dominant performance, the Henry County High School Lady Patriot Softball team has officially been crowned the District 14 AAAA Champions. Along with the title, several athletes earned individual honors for their outstanding contributions on the field.
The district’s coaching staff recognized the team’s depth by naming five players to the All-District Team, including Maddie Moroni, Lilly Steele, Lillian Eaton, Breely Peirpoint, and Reed Jackson
In addition to season-long honors, the team’s postseason execution was highlighted by the All-Tournament Team selections, featuring Reed Jackson, Breely Peirpoint, Lillian Eaton, and Irelynn Beecham.
Leading the charge, Irelynn Beecham has been named the District 14 AAAA Pitcher of the Year. Beecham’s consistency and command were instrumental in securing the championship trophy.
“So proud of this Lady Patriots softball team,” exclaimed Coach Renae Lassiter. “We defeated Dickson County in the championship game 16-4 and then defeated them in the “if necessary” game 5-1 on Tuesday night. They had beaten us on Monday 1-0 to put us in the loser’s bracket. We had to defeat Northwest to make it to the championship game and then defeat Dickson twice to win it. We played three games on Tuesday.”
What’s noteworthy is that the team left Paris at 1:00 p.m. and got home at 2:00 am., during which the group won three straight games and brought home their 4th straight district championship.
Lassiter continued her praise of the team, “Lillian Eaton pitched a perfect game to get us to the championship, and Irelynn Beecham turned around and pitched two straight games. That is toughness. I am proud of every player, manager, and coach on this team. People see the home runs and the great defensive plays because those are the exciting moments. But what they do not always see is the bunt that moves a runner, the pick-me-up talk after an error, the hustle down the baseline that turns a routine play into a close one, or the players who step into different positions because it makes the team better. This championship was a team win through and through. Individual awards are awesome, but team awards are the best. I love the way this team loves each other.”
The champions now shift their focus to the Region Tournament, with opening play scheduled for Monday, May 18 at Lady Patriot Field. The starting time has not been officially set but will most likely be 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. and the opponent will be known on Thursday.
Come out and cheer our Lady Patriots in the first round of regional play!
