The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center is proud to welcome the legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra to its Hal Holbrook stage on Saturday, June 6, at 3 p.m.
Tickets for this performance range from $40-$50 plus taxes.
More than 80 years after Glenn Miller first rose to prominence, the music and legacy of his orchestra continue to captivate audiences around the world. Known as one of the most celebrated and influential big bands of all time, Glenn Miller and His Orchestra helped define the sound of the swing era with timeless classics and unforgettable performances.
The orchestra made an enormous impact during the late 1930s and early 1940s, earning more hit records in a single year than any other recording act in history at the time. Their iconic recording of “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” became the first Gold Record ever awarded to a performing artist. Additional Gold Record recordings include “In the Digital Mood” and “In The Christmas Mood,” Volumes I & II.
One of the orchestra’s most enduring signatures is the beloved “Moonlight Serenade,” which remains the official theme song of the Glenn Miller Orchestra today. Originally composed by Glenn Miller himself while working as a trombonist and arranger with Ray Noble’s band, the piece has become a lasting standard in American popular music.
Since 1938, the Glenn Miller Orchestra has continued to perform for audiences worldwide, preserving the timeless sound of the big band era while introducing new generations to the music that defined a generation.
Audiences can expect an afternoon filled with classic melodies, nostalgic favorites, and the unmistakable sound that made the Glenn Miller Orchestra one of the most recognizable bands in music history.
