Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger announced today that Sam Bates has been appointed to serve as the next Henry County Airport Manager, effective June 1, 2026. Bob Nolan announced his retirement effective May 31, 2026, at the most recent Airport Committee meeting on April 29, 2026.
Bates brings extensive experience in aviation operations, facility oversight, and community engagement. His background positions him to lead the Henry County Airport through continued improvements, operational modernization, and strengthened partnerships with local pilots, businesses, and regional aviation stakeholders.
“Sam’s leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to service make him an excellent fit for this role,” said Mayor Geiger. “The Henry County Airport is a vital asset for economic development, emergency response, and community connectivity. We are confident Sam will guide the airport’s growth and ensure it remains a safe, efficient, and welcoming gateway for our region.”
Bates will oversee daily airport operations, regulatory compliance, capital project coordination, and long‑term planning for facility improvements. He will also work closely with the Airport Committee, county leadership, and aviation partners to support strategic development initiatives.
Henry County welcomes Sam Bates to his new role and looks forward to the continued progress of the Henry County Airport under his leadership.
