Selmer, Tenn.–On Saturday, Nicole Bonham, along with Weakley Sheriff McDade, Chief Deputy Winstead, and Deputy Frey, had the honor of attending the 2nd Annual Tennessee Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Selmer.
Nicole Bonham is the widow of Deputy Derrick Bonham. Weakley County Deputy Derrick Bonham was killed in the line of duty on January 30, 2026, while responding to a shots-fired call in Martin.
She said, “Standing in front of those walls filled with names was overwhelming in a way that is hard to put into words. Every name represents a life of service, sacrifice, family, and a community forever changed.
“Seeing Derrick’s name etched into that memorial beside other heroes from across our state made everything feel both heartbreakingly real and deeply meaningful at the same time. While I would give anything for his name not to be there, I am thankful his sacrifice and the sacrifices of so many others will never be forgotten.”
Mrs. Bonham concluded, “Thank you to everyone especially McNairy County Sheriff Buck who helped make this ceremony so special and respectful for the families and departments represented. The love and support shown to law enforcement families continues to mean more than words can say.”
“A hero remembered never dies.”
