Buchanan, Tenn.—Early Saturday morning, Paris Landing Firefighters extinguished a fire to the rear wheel of a semi tanker that was fully loaded with liquid oxygen on Hwy. 79N.
The Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene at 5:45 a.m. on a report of a vehicle on fire.
Fire Chief Reggie Coles said the fire was near the intersection with East Antioch Road and when they arrived, the truck driver was using a fire extinguisher on the left rear wheel area of the truck. The driver said one of his brakes had locked up and caught fire.
Coles said The fire was extinguished with only minor damage to the vehicle. The truck is owned by AirGas USA in Clarksville. Damage is estimated at $2500. One truck and eight firefighters were on the scene for one hour.
