Paris, Tenn.—With the high likelihood of severe storms this afternoon, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the county’s Emergency Management Agency will be opening the storm shelters in the county at 4 p.m.
Sheriff Monte Belew told WENK/WTPR this morning that the shelters at Inman, Lakewood and Harrelson Schools will be opening at 4 and a deputy will be at each shelter.
The shelters will stay open until the storm threat is over.
“We’ve been meeting with Ron Watkins (EMA Director) and with the likelihood of the severe storms hitting, we decided we need to open,” Belew said. “We want to err on the side of caution just in case we get a bad storm later.”
