Bolivar, Tenn.—Former WWE Star Brian Christopher Lawler died Sunday after he was found hanging in a Hardeman County Jail cell the day before.
Lawler, age 46, was known as “Grandmaster Sexay” in the WWE.
An investigation is underway after Lawler was found in his cell Saturday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. TBI officials said, “Corrections officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived. Lawler was transported to Region One Medical Center in Memphis where he died Sunday afternoon. At this time, we do not suspect foul play. However, our investigation remains active and ongoing.”
Lawler had been held at the jail on DUI and evading arrest charges since July 7, according to the TBI.
Lawler reportedly was placed on life support Saturday at the hospital.
He was the son of famed wrestler Jerry “The King” Lawler.
