Long-Time WMUF News Director Tim Alsobrooks Passes Away

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Tim Alsobrooks.
Tim worked for WMUF/WLZK for many years, serving as News Director and DJ for the “Tim in the A.M.” Show. Tim covered sports for the station, too, and was a great sports fan, especially his beloved baseball and his equally beloved Atlanta Braves.
WMUF/WLZK Station Manager Lance Pierce said Tim had been a pillar of the communities of his native Houston County and Henry County and “brightened our days with his morning show. He continually kept us informed as a leading local news voice. It’s a loss in the family.”
WENK/WTPR News Director Shannon McFarlin had covered news with Tim as both a co-worker and friendly competitor over the years and said the community has suffered a loss today. “Even when we were working for competing stations, we always helped each other and enjoyed working and laughing together,” she said. “It’s hard to find the right words right now.”
Forever Communications EVP Jared Mims said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tim. He represented the very best in broadcasting and community service. He will be missed.” Forever Communications operates WMUF/WLZK and WENK/WTPR.
Pierce said WMUF will air a tribute show to Tim on Monday morning from 6-9 a.m. during which members of the public can call in and remember Tim. Phone number of the station is 731 644 9683.
