
Leesburg, Fla. –John Garrett and Kyle Palmer sure did shine for the Bethel University team by placing third in the FLW National Championship. The prestigious championship was held this past week in Leesburg FL on the Harris Chain of Lakes. The Bethel anglers had five fish weighing 19 pounds 9 ounces on Day One then came in on Day Two with five fish weighing 15 pounds 4 ounces for a total two day weight of 34 pounds 10 ounces. This two day total placed the Bethel team in tenth place for the opportunity to fish in the top ten on day three.
Garrett and Palmer started Day Three of the tournament by barely making the top ten cut for the championship round but moved up to the third place position by weighing in five fish on the final day with a weight of 15 pounds 10 ounces bringing their three day total weight at 50 pounds 7 ounces for the tournament.
Bethel had five teams qualifying for the national championship. A total of one hundred and sixty boats competing for the coveted title.
John and Kyle will now get to fish in the FLW All American Pro tournament this upcoming fall and will have a chance to fish for over 250,000 in cash and prizes. Way to go John and Kyle and all of the Bethel University Bass Team.
