Paris, Tenn.–The Paris-Henry County Jaycees announced today they are proceeding with plans to hold the World’s Biggest Fish Fry.
In a public announcement posted on the World’s Biggest Fish Fry Facebook page, Jaycees said, “At this time (March 18) we are all systems Go, but remain watchful in the coming weeks.
We will be meeting again in April to make more determinations going forward as we get
closer”.
Lisa Dicus told RadioNWTN that the opening of headquarters will most likely be held a week later than usual, but that still is to be determined. The headquarters is set up on Tyson Avenue, which is a different location than in previous years.
This is the statement from the Jaycees:
“The World’s Biggest Fish Fry is set to kick off in just under 6 weeks and plans are in place
for one of our best fish fries ever!
However, with the COVID-19 virus on the front of everyone’s mind, we wanted to update
and assure you that while we are proceeding with our plans at this time. We are also
well aware of the recent school closings and cancellations of events and sports for the
remainder of March and into April.
The current consensus with most events is to reevaluate the latest developments in early
April and make a new determination going forward. With that in mind, we are monitoring
this ever-changing situation and will continue doing so in the days and weeks to come.
We are in close communication with our local government, public safety and health
officials, as well as other peers in our event and festival industry to ensure we take the
necessary steps to provide the safest event possible for our visitors, volunteers, vendors
and staff. Safety is always our number one priority and remains paramount.
At this time (March 18TH) we are all systems Go, but remain watchful in the coming weeks.
We will be meeting again in April to make more determinations going forward as we get
closer to May.
Please know that we are planning a fun and safe time here at the World’s Biggest Fish
Fry. Rest assured we place public safety and health first and we look forward to having
you here in Paris for the World’s Biggest Fish Fry!”
