Trenton, Tenn.–The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office began performing essential grocery shopping for the elderly and others in need this morning. They will continue performing the service for the elderly and those with low immune systems all week.
This morning, deputies are at the Dyer Food Rite and will be at a different location every day through Friday, March 27.
Sheriff Paul Thomas said, “We want everyone to stay safe and healthy. In light of the recent Coronavirus and recommendations from multiple agencies suggesting citizens stay at home as much as possible, especially our senior citizens and those with low immune systems, the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office would like to offer some help, specifically to those individuals that fall into one of the two previous categories.
“We will have two deputies, in marked patrol cars and in uniform for identification purposes, parked in the parking lots of grocery stores around Gibson County and you will just need to pull up to them and provide them with your list of essential grocery items and cash to pay for the items. Deputies will not be able to pay for the items any other way, so estimate how much cash to give them with your list and they will return your change and receipt back to you. The Deputies will get and pay for the items, then bring them to your vehicle.”
Deputies are available at these locations and times:
Monday March 23 9am to 11am @ Foodrite in Dyer
Tuesday March 24 9am to 11am @ Foodrite in Trenton (By-Pass)
Wednesday March 25 9am to 11am @ Humboldt Wal-Mart
