Dresden, Tenn.–The Weakley County Government Buildings, including the courthouse, are now closed to the public.
County officials said in a Facebook post, “This decision is based upon the rapidly increasing number of confirmed cases across our state and region. While the courthouse will be closed to the public, all of our county departments will still be open and accessible by phone, email, and fax.”
In-home services and the meal delivery program conducted through the Weakley County Office on Aging are continuing on normal schedule until otherwise determined.
Circuit Court Clerk Jenny Killebrew said two drop boxes are now outside the front entrance of the courthouse where people can place filings or civil filings and payments. The red and gray boxes are placed on the side of the building where the statue of former Gov. Ned Ray McWherter is situated.
The boxes are labeled: the red box is for filings to be placed and the gray box is for court payments. Everything placed in the boxes should be in a sealed envelope with your name, case number, phone number and other information that is pertinent.
Meanwhile, she said, payments may still be made over the phone at 731-364-3455, online at courtfeepay.com, by mail, or through the drop box.
