Springville, Tenn.–The Springville Volunteer Fire Department is thanking members of the community who helped contain multiple grass fires Friday, April 17. Using water hoses and buckets, residents helped firefighters put out the fires until the firefighters could arrive.
Lt. Chuck Asher said there were four separate fires ongoing at different locations at the same time.
The department and firefighters thank the members of the community “that went above and beyond and helped with the multiple fires,” Asher said. “Without your help and assistance this situation would have gotten further out of hand and spread well beyond the point you all were able to help us contain it.”
Asher said, “All of you, with water hoses and buckets, showed in true fashion what it means to be part of a community; All for one and one for all. You all have humbled all of us on the department and have given us a renewed appreciation for those we serve and why we serve. Thank you, it has meant more than you’ll ever know in this time when we are in uncharted waters.”
To those unsung heroes, Asher said, “we wish to extend an invitation to come join us once we make it beyond this COVID-19 pandemic. You have truly embodied what we at the Springville Community Fire Department, strive to be. Again, Thank You; each and everyone of you. We would love to know who you are. So if you’re one of them, or know one of them, please let us know.”
