state-chamber

Nashville, Tenn.–Governor Bill Lee has tapped the Tennessee Chamber to be a prime organization with other business groups to lead Tennessee’s economic recovery effort.
The Chamber is coordinating with other business organizations to plan and conduct around 40 hours of meetings of 12 different economic recovery subcommittees within three days. The Chamber has spent last week and this week assembling, planning, and convening subcommittees comprised of specific industries experts. Overall, there are over 200 members participating on subcommittees to determine best practices for reopening the economy. The subcommittees are responsible for creating recommendations for a holistic plan for the Governor to utilize when determining for safeguards to phase in reopening of the state. Each subcommittee will meet multiple times during the week as they work to finalize reports to submit to Gov Lee and his administration at the end of this week.
The Economic Recovery Group is led by the Department of Tourism Development Commissioner Mark Ezell and the group has over 30 representatives from all industries and local and state government. “COVID-19 has not only created a public health crisis, it has hurt thousands of businesses and hundreds of thousands of hardworking Tennesseans,” said Gov. Lee. “As we work to safely open Tennessee’s economy, this group will provide guidance to industries across the state on the best ways to get Tennesseans back to work.”
