Paris, Tenn.–PLUS Endowment in Henry County this week is honoring the bus drivers, cafeteria workers, administrators, teachers and volunteers who have been helping feed students since schools were closed earlier this year.

PLUS Endowment Board Members have been providing meals from Perry’s BBQ along with bottled water to those who have been making the school lunch program work while the Henry County Schools and Paris Special Schools have been shut down.

The meals for all the helpers were handed out today at Rhea School and on Thursday will be handed out at Henry Co. High School (as they were on Monday).

As of Monday, the Henry County Schools had served 94,323 meals for students, with a similar amount served by PSSD.  County Food Service Coordinator Karen Wilson said they began meal deliveries March 16 and will conclude the program on Monday May 18.

County Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins, who has been helping with the distribution most days, said, “I am amazed at the level of compassion and service of our people. They have stepped up to serve our community in a way beyond comprehension. From our administrators, faculty and staff volunteers, bus drivers, to our delivery riders, to our school nutrition team, and our meal loaders, they have gone above and beyond to service our families. I can not express my appreciation enough to this team.”
