Martin, Tenn.–UT Martin faculty member Dr. Timothy Smith brings his Civil War expertise and knowledge of U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant to the three-part series “Grant” that airs through May 27 on The History Channel.
Excerpts from a November 2018 interview with Dr. Smith were used throughout the first episode that aired May 25. Smith said that much of his two-hour interview in New York City for the series focused on the Battle of Shiloh.
Smith has taught history at UT Martin since 2007. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi and a doctorate from Mississippi State University. He is the author of several books about the Civil War.
