Sergeant Lee Russell Refuge is a new Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency refuge comprised of 570 acres in Carroll County. A dedication ceremony will be held next week.
The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission voted to name the area after the late Sgt. Lee Russell of McKenzie. Sgt. Russell was well known in our area, serving as a THP helicopter pilot who assisted local and area law enforcement on searches, air cover and more.
Sgt. Russell tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash while on duty in August 2022.
The dedication will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, at the Carroll County Shooting Sports Complex, 680 McAdoo Cemetery Lane, Huntingdon.
This event is open for the public to attend.
