Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey announced this morning that Lt. Lance Perry has been named the new Chief Deputy of the sheriff’s office. He will start in his new position June 1, 2026.

Perry, 50, has been with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office since March of 2001, and over the years has served as patrol officer, patrol Sgt., K9 officer and patrol lieutenant.

Frey said why he picked Perry: “Simply, it was his leadership ability. He’s already part of our command staff and he’s been to multiple leadership schools. He’s a good fit to pick up where Scott left off.”

Perry replaces Chief Deputy Scott Wyrick, who was hired this week as the new Henry County 911 Director.

Perry and his wife, Jennifer, have two kids: Rylan, who is a student at UT Knoxville and is one of Smokey’s handlers; and Kylee, who is a student at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
