
Dover, Tenn.–Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray said deputies are focusing on the area from Gray’s Landing on Kentucky Lake to Hwy. 232 in their search for the man who shot his wife and fled. Law enforcement is searching for Craig Berry, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. Berry was reported to have shot his wife during a domestic altercation in the area of 133 Old Paris Highway.
Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey said K9 Lincoln and his handler Deputy Steven Dean Jr. helped with tracking this morning.
According to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded about 1:30 a.m. this morning. Berry fled into the woods near the residence after the shooting. His wife was transported to a hospital by Stewart County EMS.
The victim is a teacher at Stewart County High School and school officials posted the following on their Facebook page:
“We are aware of a serious incident involving one of our staff members.
“We understand this news may be upsetting to students, staff, and families.
“Please know that this incident did not occur on school grounds, and there is no ongoing threat to our schools.
“Our thoughts are with our staff member and her loved ones during this time. We will continue to respect her privacy.
“Support services are available for any student or staff member who may need assistance. Please contact your school counselor or administration for support.
“We appreciate your understanding and ask that you help us maintain a supportive and respectful school community.”
Berry was spotted on video overnight and a K9 tracked him to the River Trace Rd. area. The TBI reportedly is on the way with heat-seeking technology and the search will continue into the night if necessary.
Please avoid the area being searched, as deputies and THP are active in the area. Residents are asked to report any sightings of the suspect by calling 911.
