ft-d-cemetery-2

DOVER, Tenn. — In commemoration of Memorial Day and as part of the nationwide America 250 observance, Fort Donelson National Cemetery will host a service at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 25. The event is presented by the National Park Service in partnership with the Stewart County Veterans Affairs Office. Veterans organizations, civic groups and scouting organizations will participate in the service.
Guest speaker for the program will be historian and author William Parker of Clarksville. Parker is a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He served from 1986 to 1992 and deployed to the Middle East during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. An adjunct instructor of history for Austin Peay State University, his primary historical focus is the Eastern Front of World War II.
“We invite veterans, active-duty service members, their families and the public to join us as we pause to remember the millions of men and women who served and died in defense of our nation,” said Brian McCutchen, superintendent of Fort Donelson National Battlefield and Fort Donelson National Cemetery.
Fort Donelson National Cemetery encourages visitors to:
  • dress appropriately for warm temperatures and limited shade
  • bring bottled water
  • bring lawn chairs or blankets, as seating will not be provided
The park will post any weather-related location changes or updates on the Fort Donelson National Battlefield website and on the Fort Donelson National Battlefield Facebook page.
